Father of NFL Player Killed after Home Explodes in Mooresville, NC

September 3, 2023

Another natural gas tragedy struck North Carolina in late summer of 2023. A natural gas explosion last year claimed the life of Robert Farley at the home purchased by NFL cornerback Caleb Farley. The report from the Iredell County Fire Marshal's Office on Tuesday confirmed the cause of the collapse that led to this devastating loss.

Robert Farley was discovered amidst the wreckage following the explosion that caused the house to crumble.

Despite efforts to ascertain the exact source of the explosion, the fire marshal's office revealed on Tuesday that the instability of the remaining structure impedes further investigation. Consequently, the responsibility for further inquiries falls upon the owner's insurance provider.

Dominion Energy, the utility provider for the residence, confirmed their involvement in the aftermath of the tragedy. Their representatives were among the first responders at the scene, and they continue to collaborate with emergency personnel as the investigation unfolds.
